Degus aren't all that dirty compared to a lot of rodents and they omit little to no odour, they have no real special cage care needs and the only thing they request is that they really have a wheel and a snuggly hammock to sleep in On a day to day basis i spot clean all my cages and give all the shelves a quick sweep, replenish the food bowls and they all have fresh hay. Once a week i replace any soiled bedding, wripe down the surfaces with a vinegar solution and give the food bowls a good scrub. Then once a month the cages are stripped down and disinfected thoroughly and we always put them back together slightly differently to give them a new environment to explore
