| Now this is sad - link! I just joined another forum last week, and never had a chance to sit down and read some threads until now. Upon venturing into the hedgehog forum, I found this http://furbabyplace.proboards46.com/...num=1108971332
The person was obviously oblivious to the fact that their new hedgehog was infested with mites, and judging from the pictures, it is the worst case I have ever seen, and I have seen quite a few. The person posted another thread on there, saying that the hedgie died, and that they wished they had sought vet care when they suspected something was wrong. So, I'm not sure if they realized that this hog had mites at that point or not. It just makes me so sad to see the poor baby like that. I remember when Pikachu got mites, and hers were nothing compared to that, and she was clearly very uncomfortable, but it was easily treated. I just can't believe that someone would let their hedgie die from something like this

| You think all those brown spots are mites??? and she didn't notice them???
Are you sure the hedgie just wasn't covered in poop- that cage looked awful messy.
How could it be covered in mites that bad and she not know that there was something on this little guy?
That is a crying shame!

| Wow...and she's scraed to pick him up because he has spikes? That should be the least of her worries. Why isn't anyone on the forum there saying anything? The poor, poor, thing.

That is a crying shame! | The mites are not visible, but the flakey skin and loss of quills are a pretty sure sign of mites, then yes, that is one filthy cage as well, it is disgusting.
I never said anything because I am not even sure if that person is still a member of the forum.

Red | As I stated in my first post, this hedgie had already died by the time I read this thread.
