Not Enough Time...

I am giving serious thought to passing Haley along to a new owner/friend who can spend more time w/ her.
I have been so busy & absent lately that all my socializing work w/ Haley is gone. She has become huffy again & is not running on her wheel as much as she used to.
I think she is getting depressed.
I'm not really sure what to do, besides finding her a home where people would have more time for her.
She's such a nocturnal animal & I have to be asleep by 9 pm at latest, so this really isn't working w/ my new job.
If anyone knows any Martitimers, or people who would pay shipping elsewhere, on a lovely girl hedgie, please let me know. I will also throw in her custom wheel.
Mods, feel free to duplicate this post in "Animals for Sale".

Poor Haley,
Isnt there a way you can move her to where ever your spending the most of your time? Recommit yourself to making time for her and what she needs?
How many homes will this be for the poor girl?

Neuro , I am in no mood to start a fight but I want to point something out!!

you always say pets are the *most* important thing, if you get rid of them for whatever reason, it is considered abandoming them, if that were me or another member of this forum talking about rehoming her becuase of work,,,you would tell me or another member to quit our job!!!

Now maybe you understand how it feels to have to rehome a pet becuase of circumstances and you wont be so judgemental on other people!!

Brandy, this is not about "convenience" for me- it's about what's best for the hedgehog. It would be bad for me to quit my jobs because then I couldn't afford to feed her, so what you're saying doesn't make sense.
Ratlady, I think I am going to take her to Halifax & see if bf can socialize w/ her before anything else, but I do think Haley is getting bored. I think she needs a lot of attention. I didn't realize you would want her back- she seems like she would be happiest where she was really the centre of attention.
Pets *do* come first- which is why I am concerned that Haley may need more attention than I can provide. But I will try her in Hfx next week.

Neuro,, youve stated over and over again how youd steal/lie/ be homeless...etc to be able to keep your pets,,,Im just stating that you contradict yourself!!!! you say one thing then do something totally opposite!!

Ont the other hand,,I DO agree that if its not working out then maybe she should go back to ratlady, ,,BUT shouldnt you have thought about all of this before you got Haley? And I think you can make this work if you really want to,

also I never said it was for convenience, if you reads it I clearly stated that now maybe you understand why some people have to do things and maybe you wont be so judgemental on other members!!!

I don't want this thread turning into a debate but I can understand what Brandy is saying. It is hard to say "I would never" but turn around and do the opposite of what you preach.

Personally, I would rather have a person be responsible enough to realize they don't have enough time, money, etc. to properly take care of their pet versus neglecting them.

Brandy, how do you suggest I feed her & my other pets if I quit my jobs? Is that what you are saying I should do?
Then I will end up in the hospital & all my pets will be in need of homes. Even if miracle of miracles I stayed well I could not feed them. You can't get welfare when you quit work, as you are aware.
I have never said "I would never" ever give a pet to a better home if I couldn't take care of them properly.
I do everything I can for my pets. I go w/o eating so they can eat a healthy diet sometimes. I would never dump any of my pets because they were "inconvenient".
But I am stuck for how I can afford to pay the bills (ie. work) while staying up w/ Haley.
Can hedgies get into an early evening routine? I find she's usually just getting up when I go to bed. I think I will take her to the city next week. This week I have to take a garbage bag full of hay on the bus to Hfx for the guinea pigs, so it's impossible.

Neuro, No i am not suggesting that at all,,,but as you can see now, sometimes things come up in our lives that change and we cannot do something as easily as we could before, ,,,,,

and No I dont know how the welfare system works, I had no clue that if you quit your job you couldnt get it,,,

but I think its GREAT that you are getting back on your feet, I think its awesome that you are doign things for YOU again , and not being so down in the dumps,,,etc!! BUT now Im just hoping you understand a little more about different things, etc!! Neuro if you cant be there for Haley then I agree,,she should be with someone that can ,,,,,,I dont look down on you at all for that and i think its responsible of you to see that BUT dont be freaking out at someone else and telling them they are neglecting their pets or abondoning them if something comes up in their life!!
