Hi HedgieHaven,

I've had hedgies for about 6 years now and I have bred a few in my time...thanks for advice....i'm sure she only had one....i'm letting her be because she is a first time mom....last time I had 5 albinos that was in 2005. Oh, the mom and the pop are from Tig ...hedgehogvalley... I guess this makes the baby Canadian ...lol.

Hi Sue and Brandy,

First I will address the color issue. Color is some what tricky to predict at times. The mom is a cinnicot and the dad is an apricot. In theory, I should have a light baby hoglett and I do have one....I peaked. Its skin color is pink, the nose is liver(can't be 100% sure),and its quills are white. The baby quills will change and the hedgie will lose and regrow new quills as it ages. I predict that this baby is either albino or on the apricot side. Either way I am very happy and will most likely keep it.

Sue, I just looked at www.hedgehogcentral.com it explains the different colors and has a color chart. I was told by the guru's of the hedgie world that you would have to go back 8 generations to really predict the color. Very few breeders go back that long....and there is some sort of math involved....it can be complex....I hope I have helped answer your questions. I am no hedgie expert but if you look at hedgehogcentral it may help you understand.
