I have read on almost every site that recommend that you don't house 2 male hogs together, but I'm getting 2 albino males tomorrow and they are being housed together, and they are 1.5 years old (they have been housed together since babies) without problems. So should I seperate them when I get them or leave them together?
Thanks
Oh, and what does the average albino male hedgehog go for In Canada?
I would leave them together unless they start to fight. They are already going to be under stress from being moved, you don't want to upset them more. I would have an extra cage ready just in case though.
I would think if they were littermates and they are 1.5 yrs old .. if they were going to fight it would have happened by now. What you read probably meant if you were going to introduce 2 adult males they'd be more likely to fight. It should be fine to leave them together.

I have to disagree...male hedgehogs have been known to fight to the death and/or really injure each other. I realize they have been housed together, but I would not take a chance personally...who knows what might trigger agression at any time.
All the breeders that I have heard speak on this subject say never house 2 males together.

Once in a great while you do run across two males that don't mind being house together one bit. It is a very rare thing to have happen but it does happen from time to time. I would say have things set up for that just in case factor. If you don't feel comfortable with them being together and consider it too risky, then please do place them in ther own homes. Just keep in mind they might even miss each other and get a bit depressed if one is removed. My feeling is they will be just fine if they haven't done any thing by the age of six months old. If you were to place a female in the room with them at some future date that could cause a issue. My two males that are in the same room with one female, all in different cages, sing and try to out do the other for her attention. Lois
