| journey's prolapse
i went to check on the pets tonight, and journey was laying funny in her cage. i picked her up and she was covered in blood and yucky stuff. she is alive. i washed her off with just water so i could see what was wrong and she has two long thin things protruding from vagina. i am assuming her uterus has prolapsed (they remind me of rams horns unrolled)? and it smells horrible but there is no sore and no leakage of fluids and she is trying to walk around and is drinking. i called the two vets who do emergency visits and neither one will come in until 8 a.m. and they both say that they do not know much about hedgies. my regular vet left a year ago and my new one is a great man, but he is not an exotics man. anyone have any ides or thoughts or experienced this with their hedgies? please, anything will help me. 3 hours til the vet. she is laying on my tummy and i am making sure she drinks about every 20 minutes. she was cold when i first picked her up, but is warm now.
please, someone be able to talk to me, i am trying to keep calm but i am needing someone with some sanity to talk to, give me an opinion, whatever.
