I would recommend lots of research on the net first. Here are some great sites with really good information to get you started. I'd be happy to try and answer any specific questions once you have looked over these sites though!

Ninja will become famous soon enough
ITs sad to see you are *thinking of* getting another animal. I know you want to do wahts best, what about trying to learn ltos and enjoy all the new animals you have? You can research for some years and when you are ready get one. Why the rush?

hedgehogs are very complicated and complex little creatures. before getting any pet, research, reseacrh, research..and when you think you know it all and are ready....research some more. get on a yahoo group or two. get on some of the hedgehog boards. i have been gone off and on for a while with some family emergencies, so i do not know where any of the concern that ninja has shown comes from.....but i do know that the addition of any animal to your family is more than just the ownership of a cute and cuddly animal or a status symbol or any of the myriad of other reasons someone MIGHT buy a hedgie. this is a creature who relies upon you, more so than even an infant does. when you have an infant, the knowledge of what the child needs is basically inherent. its needs are our needs. but when you take the ownership, the gaurdianship, of any creature of this earth, you take the responsibility for its care, is emotional and physical well being. for its very essence. you have an obligation...we, as their owners, have an obligation to protection them, care for them, and love them from the moment possesion is taken until their death. and they have the inherent right to live a long and happy, well-fed, well cared for life. and when we purchase them, take them in, capture them, whatever it may be...we take that responsibility. please, please, do not take it lightly. learn. be sure.
