hedge ears

My hedgehog's ears got the problems on its edges - it's not smooth and round like it used to be, it's in very unusual shape. Does somebody have any idea what is it? What did cause this? What could be a treatment?
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi,

I use purelan 100 by mudela (natural product for nursing mother)..it contains 100% pure lanolin and it helps hedgies ears. I have heard of people using cocobutter and Vit E. Hope this small bit of info helps you.

Raggedy edges to a hedgehogs ears can also indicate mites. Is she scratching, do you see any mites if you look very carefully or hold her over a black cloth and look for white moving specs to drop off?

Thanks you both for your advices.
If she has mites should I take her to vet or there is any treatment that I can do on my own?

Personally, I would have the vet confirm that it is mites, with a skin scaping before treatment. Also, it could be a fungus which might need different treatment than for mites. You didn't answer my questions though, is she scratching, do you see anything flaky that is moving fall off her when she is held over a black or dark cloth? Have you tried any lotion as Red suggested first?
