Getting a Hedgehog

I have this friend who is thinking about getting a hedgehog, but unfortunately she doesn't have the internet. She asked me to check some stuff out for, get some info, like what they need for food and where they live etc. so I decided to come on here. Some questions she had were

Do they like bugs? Do they live with or without shavings? Do they need a wheel? Do they need a water dish or a water bottle? Should they live in a cage? Or a rubbermaid container? Or a big, open-topped fishtank? Should she get 1 or 2? Are girls or boys better? Etc. etc. etc.

Just stuff like that. So any info would be halpful and greatly appreciated.

They are really fine separately. The only way living together is ever okay is two girls. Boys will never be able to live together as a rule and boys and girls are an obvious no no. So one is just fine on their own.

I wouldn't even recommend that, because females that seem to be getting along fine may be experiencing stress and not show signs of it. Also, they have been known to suddenly attack one another violently, without warning.
