I was just wondering what the demand for hedgehogs was around, I think that in the USA it is a bit higher then in Canada. How about some feed back from those who breed or from those who are looking for one.
Well as a small breeder in Indiana. I have not found it to hard for me to sell my handraised Hedgehogs. I know a few pet stores who have a hard time selling the ones they have but the conditions they have them in it is no wonder.
I sell by word of mouth, posting on forums, when I have one or two left and it is time for them to go to a new home I post in local papers that are near me. I travle Indiana a lot so it is not hard for me to deliver around my state. I don't ship and I think if I did I would have a waiting list.
I have thought more about getting a 3rd female to breed with if I move to over 3 I have to get a USDA lisence. Which I already know I would pass to get one since we have our skunk lisence.
Hope this helps.
Before anyone starts to breed they need to do their homework. Set back lots of money just in case something goes wrong while breeding it could mean losing one of your loving pets.
