| Crazy rude email!!! I think I've mentioned in posts before that I advertise that my baby hedgehogs are $180 because I have to pay for a vet check, and an exercise wheel, and quality food from Global pet foods, and I rent out a space for them and stuff... and I don't want people to just buy them on an impulse. Even then I still lower the price for people who would make great owners but don't want to pay that much. Anyway, today I got this email and I couldn't believe it:
from (Name and email removed by admin)
you are crazy. why in h*** would you sell baby hedgehogs for $180 dollars. I got mine for $75 and with an exersize wheel and a cage at a pet shop. you are one stupid b****. reply on this message |

| just goes to show, that's one NOT to sell to lol
anyone familiar with animals at all knows you pay more for quality, breeding, and care...if the owner is asking more, lots of times it is because the babies are worth it..they have been loved and cared for and are healthy and strong and happy...
the ones just wanting to get rid of them to make a quick buck sell for lower and run the puppy mill type places...
of course you aren't going to sell them right away at that price, but it will chase off the people who don't know what they are doing or are wanting to start their own not so responsible breeding program...
so, anyways, just keep doing what you do and nevermind the folks who don't understand... |

| We get the same kind of comments from people wanting to adopt animals from the shelter... they can't believe we charge what we do.. they expect to get the animal for next to nothing.. they are doing us a 'favor' by taking the animal off of our hands! Give me a break! The money we charge for the adoption just barely covers what we've put into the animal.. and if the animal came in injured, we don't charge them for the money we spent on surgery (we take a loss)....
Michelle.. if a potential buyer can't see the love, care & socialization you put into your babies then they should just go to the Petstore and buy the ones there.. that aren't handled daily.. & in some cases not fed appropriately or cared for properly. You don't want people like that having your babies anyway.. that's for sure!

| What a horrible thing to do! I feel so lucky not to have experienced that (yet I'm sure). I would gladly pay 180 for one of your hedgies! |

| *nods* with lots of stuff, i go cheaper and the frugal route, but when it comes to pets, it's not the cheapest that gets my eye, it's the best cared for, best bred, and so on...
it's easy to get a free kitten, they are all over the place..but i'd rather get one from the pound, pay the $150 and know that i'm helping out however i can... |

| it is totally up to you what you want to sell your animals too and for how much.. no one has the right to email you with that kind of nerve... who decided that it was up to them to think that the price your selling them for isnt right?!?!?! |
