Is newspaper, shredded that is, good for bedding used in guinea pig cages? I always thought the inks weren't too healthy.

Why don't you use shredded paper instead? I use that in my bird cage.. they love it! I have a shredder so I'm recycling as well.

I'm not the one using it. They have guinea pigs at the high school and have them on newspaper, but I want to make sure it's bad before I confront the teacher about it. I'm not pleased at all about them having animals in the school.

it depends on what kind of ink it is. if it is soy based, which most newspaper companies use now, then it is ok. but non soy based or the slick kinds are bad bad bad.
