Highly stressful morning for both os us

When I went to greet Rose bonjour this morning (5:30)I found her huddled in the corner and half-eyed, poofy furred--she allowed me to give her her morning pet and then I served breakfast...she barely moved so I placed some food next to her and she nibbled on it..
I spent the rest of the morning waiting for 8 a.m. to call the vet.
Bad news Rose's doc in gone to a seminar, the head doc is off til monday...they gave two other local hospitals to call and offered to fax in Rose's file. One wouldn't even discuss piggies, the other though more compassionate, refused as well.
Feeling utterly helpless about what to do, my only choice was to make an appointment with Rose's doc for tuesday and ask "what if" they said yes.
All my hopes are now resting with Rose's will and strength to survive.
I am so heart-broken at the thought of losing my eldest girl (4 in Sept).
I must also consider little Sarah (1 1/2 yrs) Rose's pen pal...and her well-being too.

I am sorry your baby is not well. There are no other vets outside of your area? It must be heartbreaking to see her doing so poorly.

Couldn't you bring her to Ottawa? If not, I hope Rose holds on until Tuesday.. I know that guinea pigs usually hide their illness so if its that obvious she must be getting worse..
Sending healing vibes to you..

I hope that you can find another vet. How far is Ottawa? I'm sure that Sue could recommend someone.

I hope that Rose is okay. I'll be thinking of you.

katescritters is an unknown quantity at this point
If she looks this bad now, she very likely isn't going to make it to next week, let alone tuesday. I would try and get her into an exotics vet in a neighboring city or town.
