The wagging tail

Has anyone ever seen their chinchilla's tail wagging? I was letting my new chinchilla interact with the 2 I already had. Once i put my new chin back in his cage, my chinchilla Midnight started wagging his tail like crazy (first time I've seen this in 6 years). Now he's trying to be affectionate with his friend, Shadow. All 3 chins are males. I read on another forum that male chins do this when they're "in the mood." Midnight is also messing around his "man area." Not saying all tail wagging is caused by this, but probably a lot. Midnight is also squealing a lot. Chins are so funny.

ya but! i spoil her to death! she has a big cage all to herself tonnes of toys a fleecy hammock etc. and I spend lots of time with her all day/night! At night she even has special playtime toys and has free range of my whole room! sometimes when i go to sleep at night i feel really bad that she's all by herself especially on those rare occasions i didn't have the time to give her her playtime, so i want to get her a friend eventually.

Aww, your chinchilla sounds happy And SPOILED! Sadly, sometime soon I might have to find a home for my chinchillas. My boyfriend is going into the Navy and if I go with him, I don't know how I'd get all of my pets to Florida from California. Even if I drove them over, that would be a long, hot trip. I've had Shadow and Midnight since '01 and Twilight since January. I'd miss them terribly!

Ever since I posted that last comment, Midnight has been trying to get freaky with Shadow! Lets just say... there have been changes in his "man area." Poor Shadow! haha

are you SURE they are all males? hehehe

My two females wag their tail all the time and it's never in a sexual way. They'll be playing and hopping around with the tail wagging, they'll come say hello wto me and wag their tail when they see I have a treat, etc. I had also been told that chinnies only wag their tail when they are flirting or when they are babies, but I've seen much to the contrary.

I know for a fact that Shadow and Midnight are males. I'm almost positive Twilight is. The person I got Twilight from worked in a pet store and rescued him. I'm certain that she was correct in identifying him.

I've never seen any of my chins (until today) wag their tails like a dog. It's very cute, I just don't want Midnight to keep acting like a maniac.
