How can you tell it's baby season.....

Today we had an unexpected delivery and of course it had to happen while I was gone for all of 40 minutes. I came home to find Kiki in the middle of eating a dead kit.. YIKES. I'm assuming something went wrong because the other kit was perfectly fine and running around. I removed the remains of the dead kit and took the healthy one out to take a closer look and found that he had an umbilical cord wrapped around his body and neck. It wasn't attached to him so I'm assuming this might have been part of the problem with the second kit.

Anyhow we have a gorgeous Black Velvet Ebony carrier boy weighing 50 grams. Mom is a Homo Ebony from Chincharm and Dad is a herd improvement Standard from Blue Vale. Mom must have TOV in her even though we didn't know it.

Thanks. In four years of breeding chins we've never had a Black velvet kit born until this year, and now we've had two born in the last three months.
