| Hay-What Types? I mentioned this on CnQ, thought I'd see what you folks thought as well...... As you may be aware Cub will not eat: timothy, alfalfa (loose or cube) or Oxbow oat grass. She will nibble & play with them, but not get down to serious eating.
It has been suggested that I try bluegrass or orchard grass, or APD timothy. The APD would run me a fortune, & I can't order it without a credit card, so I am looking @ the other types. Does anyone have experience with them?
And what type/brand of hay do you feed your chillas?

| I don't have any experience with APD.
When I had the chins, I fed them Living World brand timmy and alfalfa hay, I always checked the bags first because each batch would be slightly different quality. |

| All I can get around here is Katee and it's CRAP! But I have searched and searched for different brans but they only carry Katee around here. I herd a lot of good things about APD hay!

| Yes, Denise was telling me how good APD was, & I checked out the website, but I cannot pay $50 Canadian for hay, I just can't.
Luckily my Brisky's order containing beet fibre cubes (hay replacer) are in the mail. We'll see how Cub likes these.
If they backfire, I guess I'll be looking into orchard grass or bluegrass, but I will not pay more than $30 Cnd. for a medium sized bag of hay.

| Oh ya, I agree, $50 is a lot for just hay. I wouldn't pay that much either. I hope cub likes it!

| This hay company is in our area...they are nice people and will often send over a supply of hay for the shelter animals...we just need to call them.

| I can get organic hay here (certified organic). If folks are interested, I may start shipping. The only thing I would be very weary about is that bad hay can kill chins quick.
Neuro, let us know how those beet cubes work. Should be interesting.

| Hey Neuro...I just got my Oxbow Oat Hay today! I can't wait to see if Pablo & Chloe like it...I also brought home some OxfordMeadow Hay (mentioned above) and Chloe LOVES it!! I can order the Oxbow through work and since I didn't need any pellets I thought I'd try out some different kinds of hay.

| Call me absolutely crazy, but has anyone checked local farmers for some good fresh hay? They sell is here for $2.50 a bail. I know some of you don't have cars, etc. but it may be worth looking into.
