Digging

OK OK I know I am askin way to many probably dumb questions, but one more. Genie which my son has renamed to magenta has been digging through the bedding. I mean the cage is 3'square and it has no drop pan but she pushes all the bedding to one side then out of the cage. She is drivin me nuts, hopefully when we get our new cage she won't do it.

No question is a dumb question! Ask as many questions as you like

I haven't had a chin who was a digger before but I only had chins for a very short while. What kind of cage is Magenta in now? I'm guessing it's solid bottom? My chins were in Hagen cages with solid bottom that were about 2" - 3" high and they didn't really kick that much shavings out. They did manage to throw poop all the way across the living room though, lol!

What kind of new cage are you getting?

kingsborochins is on a distinguished road
Some chins just have that habit. My theory is that they don't like sitting on rough, scratchy shavings. I have several chins that manage to put every single shaving into one pile in the corner and just sit on the bare pan floor or their ledges. I wouldn't worry about it. Just chalk it up to another chinnie quirk.

I have a digger and she does the exact same thing You should see her get mad at me when I try spreading the shavings out again
