Good thoughts needed!

We had to go to our emergency vet last night with Max. We came home from dinner and he was freaking out. He was hissing and growling for now reason. He put the run on Syd and was grooming quite aggressively at his bottom. We thought it might be a blockage so rushed to the vet.

Sure enough, he was full of crystals. He's not blocked but he's not doing very well. The vet had to sedate him, then gas him, and he also got a shot of Metacam. We are pretty sure that the Metacam is causing him to be so sick today. He ate this morning and then vomitted. He has been eating very little since so we are likely going to try force feeding if he doesn't get his appetite back.

We are worried sick...

Oh Candice.. I hope Max feels better really soon. That must have been scary seeing him acting like that.
What food is he eating?

Max is doing a bit better today. He is interested in food at least. He ate some breakfast (about 1/4 can) and then was circling my feet while I made dinner. He had a bit of dinner and is happily grooming himself now. I think he'll go back for more in a few minutes. As far as I can tell, he has kept everything down.

He's still urinating. Not normal volume yet but he's doing okay.

We think that the shot of Metacam knocked him loopy. He was just not himself yesterday and it would explain the nausea and vomitting.

Sue, we decided on Hill's C/D. It absolutely disgusts me but we need to get his pH under control. I have emailed Wysong and will likely get a prescription made for the Struvatrol formula and try that. Right now, I'm mostly concerned with getting him stable and then we'll worry about the food.

I didn't even know that Wysong had prescription diets. I hope Max continues to get better Candice. He's in great hands with you as his mom..
