| getting a new kitty a cat in another town was brought to my attention. this is a small town with not even a shelter and strays are kept for seven days and then euthanized. i wrote the animal control officer an email and he and i have been corresponding atleast twice a day for several days.
it seems that he has had the postion for two weeks, and had no clue how messed up the job was-or his cities view. for me to adopt the kitty, it was going to cost me $92. $8 a day boarding to the vet that the city used, a rabies shot, and spaying. then, a few days later, we found out that the cat is a boy! this officer, erik, is amazing. he has worked to find a way to cut the fees and save this cat-and his other charges' life. he got the boarding fee dropped. now it is the rabies fee and the nueter. and i am asking that his other shots be done too.
get this, for me to get the cat, i was going to have to drive three and a half hours one way to pay the city collector, then come back home and drive back the next day to pick him up after his nueter. i would have done it too. but erik, the officer, said no. he is going to pay the fee today and get the receipt to the vet so that the nueter etc can be done, and then i am going to drive up tomorrow, meet erik and pay him back, and get my new baby. this guy is an amazing man! i am wracking my brain, trying to think of something i can gve him to show appreciation. he is going to be a true pet gaurdian in his new position. any ideas? i only have until tomorrow, and i do not want to go nuts. just something small and heartfelt. maybe a symbol of his new role as a pet angel? any ideas?
as for my new baby...here is the pic erik sent me. he is a fairly lng haired flame point siamese mix. bright blue eyes and all. and, are my eyes deceiving me, or does it seem as if there is some crimping to his fur-especially on the chest area? i have not named him yet, i am waiting to meet the little guy. but erik says he is very sweet. the names arpeggio, cranshaw, chance (as in second ones), and aubie (for auburn) have been suggested. my son wants pyro, but that is too close to psycho for me! lol.

| He's a cutie! This Erik sounds like a terrific guy! The animals are lucky to have someone like him on their side!
At my shelter, we really appreciate it when people bring in Tim Horton's "timbits" (donut holes) as treats for us human workers! Maybe you could take him some food (homemade cookies, fruit basket, or some beer!) as a token of your appreciation.
Keep us updated! |

| well, he is here. i will get good pics up tomorrow, but i took these with the webcam. he is about 9 months to a year and a very fluffy flame point siamese with bright blue eyes and some big paws to grow into!!! he is very friendl;y....pretty much all he has done is eat eat eta drink eat eat eat eat......you get the drift. i do have a question...he got nuetered yesterday evening and he is filthy and matted and needs a bath horribly. but can i bathe him this soon? all my animals were fixed at adoption except francie, and she was a dog with a huge wound. but, man, does he stink and his feet are solid black! he needs a bath bad bad bad. can i bathe him?

| You could call the shelter or the vet that did the procedure and ask when it is safe to bathe. Or you could try just a warm soapy washcloth to get the paws and other areas and just avoid the incision line until it is completely healed. He looks so adorable! Have you decided on a name? How about naming him Erik after that nice guy that helped you get him? Just a thought....
