Feeding the tail-less cat

Hey everyone.

Before all the posts were lost on the message board, I'd written a post about our tail-less cat having pooping problems. Well, we've tried cutting back on his food, and it seems that if we just feed him once in the morning he doesn't have as much as a problem. It seems to have cut down the poop problem by about 80-90%.

My question is, is it ok for him to be only fed once a day? We give him a large handful of food in the morning, but he doesn't finish it. We've been trying the once-a-day routine for about 2 weeks now, so by now he should know that this is all he's getting until the next morning....but he still doesn't eat it all. Is this ok? I'd rather deal with cleaning up poop than having a hungry kitty, but he seems happy....his mood hasn't changed at all.

well I think unless they are used to being fed certain things at certain times it shouldnt be a problem.. and that when the cat is hungry it knows where the food is.. so I dont think it will starve..
Aspen knows he gets fed 1/2 can in the morning and 1/2 can in the evening so he will let us know that he needs to be fed. I think that if your doing it for 2 weeks now and if he seems to be doing fine with it then it shouldnt be a problem.

I don't think that would be a bad idea I mean at least your feeding him everyday just not all the time just once. Which I don't think will harm him as he will get use to it and eat it all when you give it to him, I mean if your seeing it help with the problem then I say go for it

You can definitely feed him once a day.

I'm glad too! It was getting to be a pain cleaning up all the poop and having to bathe him every other day. Not to mention that during one of those baths he tried to jump out the tub, slipped and broke his canine tooth and had to have it removed. My poor baby! But now he's all better and ready to get back to giving ME baths (usually at 5 in the morning LOL)
