Cats and Gravol?

Can cats handle Gravol? I really need to bath Sadie, and as she is a 20 pound bundle of nerves on a good day, I will have to give her something so I end up with some skin left! One of my co-workers said they give one of their cats half a gravol when they travel and the cat has no ill effects. Input, please!

I don't know about Gravol but I am wondering if you've ever tried Rescue Remedy instead?

I was looking at some vials of stuff in the pet store the other day, and I don't remember the name. I'll have to go and take another look and post what they are to see if anyone is familiar with them. Basically I need something that will make her completely comatose!!

Rescue Remedy is usually found in nature food stores. Its a natural relaxant and stress manager. I used it on my first chinchilla after surgey to help her remain calm and stress free. I seem to recall a lot of people use it for their cats too.

I'd be reluctant to give gravol to cats. Apparently it works in reverse for some, making them more excited. I've never used the Bach Rescue Remedy myself but have heard good things about using it with cats. I'd still wear the full body armour, though.

I've heard Bach Rescue Remedy works well with horses, if that helps any...

Even if gravol were safe for cats (it probably is, but I don't know for sure) it may not relax her. It sure doesn't slow me down at all, and a lot of other people don't get sleepy from it either. Some people can have an opposite effect, and become excited and aggitated. Pets can have the same different reactions to same drugs.
