Cat repellant?

Well, Sadie seems to have picked 2 particular spots - 1 to poo on the rug and the other to pee on my couch. It is definately a stress thing, because I have seen her use the cat box, so I really have no idea what's going on the the poor thing's head. Not much, I think!

However, since her poo spot is right behind my front door, every time she goes I have no choice but to drag the door across it so I can get in, which of course smears everything a good 6 inches over the carpet! I have been using Nature's Miracle to try and keep the odour down (doesn't really seem to work well). The door is too tight to the floor to use a dollar store mat for that particular area.

Does anyone know of anything safe to use that works as a cat repellant that I can spray on that area of the rug and my couch? I have used one before many years ago, and those particular cats just thought it was great and used their spot even more!!

Oh gawd, you have my sympathies! I would suggest trying a citrus spray of some sort - citronella would work. Cats hate the smell of citrus fruits (except for Isobel who ate pieces of orange when she was young! ). I'm doing research right now cos I've got a stubborn urine spot in my hall closet carpet. I'll let you know if I come across anything in my travels.

Any chance you can get two big Dobermans- one to sit on the sofa and one on behind the door? No?

If I have things I want the cats to stay off I tape a piece of aluminum foil there. Maybe a temp fix until you find a better- or talk some sense into bad kitty!

Thanks for the sympathies - much appreciated. I'll be doing some research too, and I'll return the favour if I come across anything.

LOL Jenna!! I wish!

I did get smart this morning, and I put an empty egg carton near the spot before I left for work. (It was the only thing I had to hand that wouldn't matter if it got pooed on!) YAY!! No under-the-door poos when I got home. Good Sadie!! but....BOO!! Followed my nose and found one under the bedroom dresser, right on top of the tv cable.

It sounds too good to be true. I wish some of these products were readily available here on the east coast of Canada
