All hell broke loose...

My aniamls generally get along relatively well. Hermie hates the kitten and Booger hates dogs, but they usually manage to avoid each other and there is never much more than a little hiss or growl in passing at times. Well, last night, around midnight, all hell broke loose in my house. I can laugh about it now, but at the time it was not so funny.

Titus is at that age where the least little thing merits him whining or yowling pathetically over it. I hear a kitten yowl coming out of Ginia's room- still not sure why as I couldn't find anything wrong with him later, but Titus is yowling in apparent pain and/or frustration for a good solid 30 seconds.

Natalie, being the closest, sleeping on my feet under the desk- hops up first to check it out. This, as it turned out, was a big mistake on her part.

Booger, Mouse, and Hermie all come running. I was first set back a bit seeing Hermie- who is generally disinclined to move and/or show herself in the more public areas of the house- on TOP of not really having any concern for the kitten. Titus had stopped his fit-throwing and all seemed to be settled.

The cats, however, had a different idea.

Natalie, being there when they arrived, was guilty in their eyes and the three of them all set out to get her.

They first cornered her at the end of the hallway- much yelping, whining, hissing and growling and spitting going on. Virginia and Isaac both attempting to break it up- a towel was thrown and a water bottle was engaged- but it did no good.

Meanwhile, Titus- shaking like a leaf- runs and jumps straight in my arms. Seemingly, at first, he was seeking me for sanctuary, but much yowling and clawing later I decided he saw me more as means to climb to the ceiling.

Natalie somehow managed to leap over the cats and headed in my direction! Cats in pursuit! I got in between her and her assailants- Titus still clawing the poo out of me- me at the same time trying to see if he is hurt anywhere- and the cats slapping at Natalie- who is too excited by now to make a real retreat- through and around my ankles.

Ginia grabs Booger (the ringleader) by the scruff and around the middle in an attempt to restrain her. For some reason, I thought to thrust Titus in her face- to show her that he was okay. She immediately relaxed, started bathing and nuzzling him in midair. Ginia orders Nattie to her bed- and Nattie actually obeyed- though laid there and whimpered in complaint for a good ten minutes. The steam just sort of went out of Mouse and Hermie- and the war was over.

Finally, Deuce comes lumbering through, completely unconcerned, rubbing on ankles and the other cats on his way to the water dish. Apparently the noise woke him and he was thirsty. Things are always very simple for Deuce. Of course I can't criticize Deuce too much- Steve slept through the entire thing.

And I thought prejudice was a human trait...

You animals lead a very exciting life Yes, definitely you should write a book. You even could add pictures to illustrate it!!
I wonder if Titus will be yowling anytime soon LOL?

Yikes! Poor Natalie! I'm glad everyone is okay!

God only knows why our kitties yowl in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. Bruce will cry pitifully sometimes if he sees car headlights on the ceiling or a little insect flying across the room, and Hamish will start yowling if he's out in the livingroom and has forgotten that no, everyone hasn't left home and forgotten him; they've simply all gone into the bedroom!

A very interesting read. Your a good writer. Your story took me back to when I was 13 or 14 and watching my tabby cat climb our 6 1/2 foot christmas tree. I was in awe, but my mom had a different point of view.
