| Toronto Humane Society on TV Who can get through that show without balling? Ever since I was like 5 years old my mom had to turn the TV off because I would get hysterical. Just the other day she had to shut it off, LOL. But really that is the most depressing thing ever on TV.

| I don't really like watching it.. not because I find it sad (b/c I see the same situations everyday in our shelter) but I find that they film the most pathetic stuff instead of showing the good news stories... if I was going to donate to their shelter I'd want to see the Programs that the money is going to... like Educating children & Companion animal programs visiting the elderly... I also think they need to tape some new ones b/c everytime it comes on.. I've seen it before (like 2 yrs ago)...
I think it's good that people are made aware of the sad situations that are out there but I just think they play too much on people's emotions... JMO

| I agree. It takes very little effort to make someone sad, but a LOT of effort into making them happy or joyful. They've probably just taken the easy route, filmed stuff like 2-4 years ago and have been airing reruns ever since.
I agree with you, suzoo, that I would much rather see the good side of it as well, to see what happens when they have money or whatever to use for their programs. |

| Ya, I think so too that we should know how cruel things can get but it's just so sad. It would be nice to see what good things donating can do. That way you can see how sad things can get but end up happy. I've donated a lot from those shows so I would like to see some good come out of it. But they do send you a picture of an animal you saved. So I guess it's not all bad but some of it is just horrific.

| The sad thing is if they depicted happy stories, a lot of people would go, "oh, they don't need my help".
It takes something that makes you cry to really get you to commit to a cause sometimes.
Just thinking about those commercials makes me start sniffling!!!

| I've seen that informercial a few times on Sundays. It does seem a bit outdated with the same stories being run over and over again. I'd really like to see an updated version that shows the results of the donations being made.
I think if they could show where the money is going to and show that it's making a difference, more people would be inclined to donate rather than watching sad old stories over and over again.
It's like the informercials about supporting a child in Africa or another third world country. They keep showing the same child over and over and over and really makes me wonder if there's any improvement to the lives of the children in the situation right now. |
