"Pit Bulls freak me out'

I know this has been discussed over and over but I get so agitated when I hear people make negative statements against Bully breeds. My current supervisor saw me looking at Pit Bull rescue websites and I told her I have a soft spot for them. She said, "Pit Bulls freak me out". She said she knows any dog is capable of biting but she is fearful of them because they don't let go. She too has a dog and does not allow her dog to get near one on the street. I told her the reason why she has that misconception is because of all the negative publicity on the media portraying Pitties as monsters.

Pitties are not monsters. The ones that you hear about are dogs that result from bad ownership and/or bad breeding. They can be great dogs.

I agree also--pits are some of the best dogs you can get. Eager to please, bred to work closely with humans, bred to not be human aggressive...the reason so many pits get mean is because their owners tell them they want them to be mean, so they comply. Stupid tough guy people.

A pit bull is a breed I would love to allow to join my family. I have a friend who owns one and a chihuahua, and they are so good together! The pit bull is so gentle with the chi.

Really now? I'm surprised the Chihuahua gets on with the pit--Chihuahuas are the only dogs I know of that prefer members of their own breed.

I love pitties I have only met one that was slightly aggressive, and that was my uncles dog. She was basically an outdoor dog and the passing school kids would throw rocks at her over the fence. My uncle wasn't home so he didn't see it until he had stayed home sick one day. Even through all of this "Senta" was still a pretty nice girl, she always had lots of licks for me

Poor baby...that is definitely one reason pits could get mean.

lol I own a pitbull and a chi..lol they love each other but you're all right..the chi is a MONSTER..not the other way around!...doesn't let the pittie touch his toys, will chase and nip at the pittie when she tries to get near the chi's spot on the couch..etc..

but they do love each other..you'll quietly find them cuddled in the pitbull's bed every now and then, and when the chi isn't busy being a grump, he'll play with her and run around after her lol its quite a site!
