Nutro dog food

okay ,,,,some of you may know I got sasha a small bag of Nutro Lamb and rice a few weeks back, dad came up for Craigs bday and brought it with him,,,,,,I just got a small bag to make sure she liked it well she did ,,,so I was going to get Shannon to send me up a big bag by bus but they want $15.00 for every 10lb,.,,so thats alot of money,,,anyways after talking to a few people about it I decided that maybe we would put her on Nutrience for now, since i can get it easily and its still better than pedigree,,,so anyways yesterday Craig went and bought Sasha a bag of Nutrince ,now heres my problem,,,

first off 16.5 lb bag cost me $35.00
Sashas been farting like super crazy and it frigin stinks

so I told Craig,,,if she smells like this the whole time she is on it i cant handle it,,,she stunk so bad this morning that Dakin got mad at me becuase I wouldnt change Corbins stinky bum,,,I tried explaining it wasnt Corbin it was Sasha and had to show Dakin that Corbins diaper was clean,,
then he went over to Sasha,,,said P U stinky Sasha

so Lynne (Craigs bosses wife) calls me,,we get chit chattin about pet food,,,she just recently put her pets on Nutrince,,she said I am sorry but I am spending $80.00 for food just for the dog on Nutrience,,,I cant afford that plus she stinks to high heaven,,,so I know its just not me,,,,

shes from the Miramichi, I can get Nutro there, I called this morning they have all the dog food I want but have to order me in cat food which is fine,,,Lynne and I are going to split the gas and get some when we need it,,,it will save us alot of money and smells,,,plus they go to the Miramichi on a reg basis so they could pick me up more when needed

heres my problem,,,,I hear everyone talking about the Lamb and Rice,,,Sasha tried it .loved it,,yipee

I got checking out their website and spotted the one for large breeds and by the ingreients I think its better because it has Glucosamine and chondroitin which would be better for Sashas hips,,,so what do you guys think???

Brandy, I know Sasha's gas is not funny when you have to smell it but it sure sounds funny in your post!

The large breed formula might be better for Sasha, she's a pretty big girl It will probably cost a bit more because of the supplements in it. I don't think there's any harm giving her the large breed food with the supplements in it.

Check the price though, I'm not sure how much more expensive it will be.

well when i called the co-op to see what they had,. the lady said it was the same price, but even if its a few dollars more its worth it,,,,,,

but $35.00 for 16.5 lbs of dog food is crazy when it makes her stink to high heavens and its not the best ,,i know Sashas gas is funny,,,,I laugh at her all of the time to

brandy,, i put joey on nutro and he stunk horrible too.. plus he was throwing it up all the time. i took my time and switched his food like everyone says to do but it didnt matter, so my vet told me nutro was too high protein for joey( never heard of that????) so we tried nature's recipe and he never had any problems with it.

we have pippin on pro-plan large breed formula. and our vet recommended that because large breeds grow so much faster then small breeds, the large breed formula might be good for sasha. here in the states, the price is the same for either pro-plan puppy food we buy, i havent checked into the large breed formula for nature's recipe ( we can switch pippin to that next month yeah!!) but i dont think they could chage more for the different bag?? at least i dont think it is fair if they do ??

neuroleptical is an unknown quantity at this point
Here's the scoop on Nutro: if you have been feeding a typical commercial dog food (Pedigree, Alpo, whatever), you have been feeding a very filler-filled diet that is less nutritious in its ingedients & very bland. By switching to Nutro, you are moving up to a diet that is more nutrient-dense & richer. I recommended a friend switch once, we switched her dog too fast & she got the runs. Yuck!!
I would continue w/ the Nutro, gradually mixing it in w/ the last diet to ease the transition. That should ease the gas.
Way to go for making the switch!!

Neuro,,,,so will the gas adventually stop,,,,Lynne has had her dog on Nutrience for over a mth now and she said she still stinks, ,,,and she switched over slowly,,,

I on the other hand didnt switch over to slowly,,,,,yesterday I mixed it half and half with Nutro,,,,,I can do that for about 3 more days then i will be out of Nutro and she will be on Nutrience,,then I have to switch her to the Nutro large breed,,,so it will take a bit before getting everything organized and have her on one food

so you guys agree tho that maybe i should put her on the large breed instead of the lamb and rice tho???

i think it would be a good idea to get the large breed formula, esp. if it doesnt cost any more.
