Nellie is EATING all of her toys

Nellie is a great dog in the sense she usually only chews on her own toys, BUT shes taking it to the next level and shes actually chewing them up and swallowing the chewed pieces

She even goes as far as eating the stuffing out of her bears, Sasha has never done this, so this is new to me

it doesnt matter if its a teddy bear, runner, vinyl. rope, tennis balls, whatever it may be, if she can chew it she will swallow it,.,

Is there a way to stop this? or will I have to buy her undestructible toys??

Thankfully shes thrown up everything shes ever chewed, last night she was throwing up her big yellow dice, so as of right now, i took away anything she can destroy. that basically left her with her bones

Im going to get her a tire biter, but i dont know of many toys that she wont be able to destroy,

any suggestions?

Those kong toys seem to work really well. Our golden retreiver liked to chew up all his toys and he could never seem to destroy the kongs or the tire biter.
Have you tried an obedience class? They can really do wonders, especially for large breeds.

I am by no means a dog expert, but if I was in that situation, I would only provide her with toys that are indestructible (kong, tire biter, etc) or organic. I would be scared to death that whatever she was destroying and swallowing could cause a blockage or make her really sick otherwise. Not to mention it just can't be good for her to be throwing up every day because she ate a toy.

theres organic toys???

yah Ive come to that conclusion , Im going to have to go out and buy her all new toys

I might try to find some good ones online, since my toy selection is limited between Vicki's and Wal-mart, altho Wal mart does sell the Kongs, I could never get Sasha to play with them so I never bothered getting any for nellie but apparently I have to..lol

I meant organic as in natural like bones, rawhide, etc. Things that can be disgested in her system if she were to swallow a piece.

Brandy, now you know how I feel! Rawhides are no good. They have been known to cause obstructions. See if you can find bully sticks. One of the Pit Bull owners on the forum I belong to give her Pits a coconut to play with! I bought one yesterday for the kids and they love it! And it takes a looong time for a Pit Bull to destroy so I know it will take Nellie even longer. Something else that is good for them to chew and good for their teeth is marrow bones. Tire biters are good too. I can see if I can find other suggestions from the Pit Bull forum.

Kongs come in different shapes besides the standard type.. my dogs never used them either.. but I have tiny dogs. Maybe try to find the newer shaped ones...

Hey at least Nellie is eating her own toys, today Lil ate a pair of of my pajama pants, a pen and a wrapper from the garbage. She is going to be going in her kennel at night I think starting tonight, otherwise she gets up and goes and destroys things.
