Sad need dog advice

Hi everyone,

I just want to say that I don't own a dog but I dog sit the cocker/terrier mix across the street. Well she has a bad doggie odor(her fur smells) and she is rubbing her scent on me and the sofa. In the summer the lady keeps the dogs hair short and she does not smell. Any suggestions on what type of shampoo I can get for the dog??? She has a wavie black coat and course hair. SOS

I wonder how often she bathes her dog? Dogs should not have an offensive odour about them. I wonder if it an underlying health problem? Then again you said her coat does not smell in the summer when it is cut short....

I use either Johnson and Johnson chammomile baby shampoo or Earth Pet Shampoo. I use the second one on Molly because she has sensitive skin and the shampoo is 100% natural and hypoallergenic. I also use the conditioner too and it keeps her coat very soft.

Ninja will become famous soon enough
If she is on a cheap dog food that could make her smell as well because it would secrete through her skin.

Hi everyone,

Miss Melina is on the Hill's Vet Diet....I think its t/d .....she buys it from her vet......big chunks....I really think she needs to go for a cut and a bath. As far as I know, the dog is in good health and also eats vegatables. The weather around has been really cold so I think thats why the lady does not want to get her hair cut. I'll tell her to buy that shampoo. Thanks Denise for the info.

How often have you kept her? Maybe she is a little nervous- marking her territory- and that is why she smells. I'd just give her a bath, if I were you.

theratlady is an unknown quantity at this point
you already said what the problem is she is part cocker spaniel and they are prone to skin conditions, if its not a bacterial condition then its most likely a yeast type thing. there are shampoos that are very helpful at cutting this back, and yup a good grooming would certainly help.
