I would definitely talk to your local police department about what happened. Obviously the one dog is dangerous and in need of training, and chances are the other one is too since the owner seems pretty irresponsible. You should file a complaint against the owner even though there wasn't any serious injuries to your dog. Then if that dog bites another dog again or a child, there will be a record of the attack on your dog. Maybe a talk from an officer would smarten the guy up a bit.

As for the pepper spray, I don't know if that would work. Maybe someone else here could help you with that. I'm glad you and your dog weren't injured though

I would definatly report it, that way if it happens again to another dog or even a child there will be a record that this has inded happened before and the owner and dog will be held responsable. It's prob the owners' fault anyway, almost all aggressive dogs are due to what the owner has done to the dog

Definately Report it!! I know here in MN there has to be 3 reports on a single dog before the authorities will do anything about it.

Wow, how scary. I'm glad that your dog is okay. Is it possible for you to take a different route to the store...or walk further from the fence?

My advice:

- Don't use pepper spray. That stuff will also incapacitate you and anyone nearby.
- Report the dog bite to your local police department or to animal control. You need to know if the dog who attacked your pooch has been vaccinated against rabies. As well, your dog's leg could become infected and the owner of the dog should be responsible for the vet bills.

I hope you never have to experience this again! How horrible for you!

How is your dog doing? I agree, please make a police report about the incident and try and find an alternative route.

You can spray ammonia at a dog and it is very effective at stopping them. Just fill a small spray bottle with ammonia and carry it with you. I used to do this when I was riding my bicycle and dogs tried to attack me.
