| dog pulled out her stitches my 2 year old terrier mix was spayed two days ago. she pulled her stitches out last night. it is slightly gapped, but not bleeding or seeping etc and she is acting fine. we called the vet and she basically said to watch it, cover it so she can not pull it open, and it will heal. what i need is ideas of how to keep it safe from her roving tetth and tounge! i am with her and watching her, but i do have to sleep, etc. please, anyone, ideas? thanks |

| Make a E collar for her so she can't lick/bite at the insicion.. you could buy one at a pet store or vet clinic but you could improvise until you get there

| I agree. It seems that no matter how close you watch them, they still end up licking and tugging. I don't know what you could use to improvise but Sue may be able to elaborate if you can't think of anything. |

| I'd probably use bristol board (cut down to size).. on the side closest to the neck I'd attach something soft like maybe a towel so it doesn't dig into his neck... maybe use duct tape to keep it together... obviously it would be hard to take on & off b/c of the tape.. so I would just do this until a real one could be purchased.

| the area is a little more open than it would be if the stitches had stayed in, and a little res cause she does lick them now and then, but there is not odor, no seeping and they are scabbing nicely and she is back to her onery slef. i think she is a happy camper. but it is a full time job, keeping her from messing with the darn things!!!! the farther most edge from her head, she is always trying to getat and she makes it a little red, but then the redness fades when we cover it etc. she is just a bratty girl!!! i think we are going to be ok, her spay was tuesday so the worst is over. but she is beign watched very closely between me and my girlfriend and the kids etc. here is a pic of the little heathen, although not the best. |

| Aww How sweet. Peeps stitches got infected and we used hydrogen peroxide and that did the trick. Even if it isn't infected it works SOOO good. The only thing would be to put a collar on her. Maybe just put it on when your not watching her. Good Luck!
