Cool Paw Print Picture

The bottom print is Hogan's- the top one is from a coyote. This was taken on the hill where we let the dogs run.

The coyote needs a nail trim
Is there any concern that the coyote would cause a fight with your dogs?

Hogan chased one early one morning a couple months ago. He then turned around and went after a deer. He was in a lot more danger from the deer. Luckily it was a pretty young buck and was not worried about defending its territory. Sirius has sparred off with a coyote a few years ago- Sirius would have fought it, but by just pure dumb luck, the train whistle went off and scared the coyote and I managed to lunge and get back hold of Sirius lead just in time. The coyotes are pretty small here, and most of them are hybrids- bred in with once domestic dogs. The are all very skiddish and stupid- they will freeze in the middle of road and not know what it means when you honk for them to move. The only thing we would really have to worry about is there being a rabid one on the looose- luckily there has not been any outbreak of rabies reported in our area in a couple of decades. At any rate, now everyone but Pagan has to be kept on lead whenever we leave the yard- she is too chicken to go too far from me. We've never had one come into the yard (so far). We only see them in winter, thankfully.
