Canadian Service Dog registry and certification

I have a 2 year old pomeranian that I would like to register as a Psychiatric Service dog, however, I can't find any registry to do so. I have heard there is one, and that it is difficult to get certified, but haven't actually come across it myself. I have contacted various canadian service dog training facilites and have yet to hear back from them. I also contacted the human resources development canada, and still waiting to hear back from them.

Is there some service dog registry out there that someone can point me towards? Someone told me I'd have to register her as a seeing eye dog, but that doesn't sound quite right.

Do you mean 'service dog' as in the dog would go to a Psych hospital for visits? When I was hospitalized, we had a chocolate Lab that came to visit every Monday afternoon and that was the only thing that would get me out of bed...
As far as a Registry I really don't know....
Our Humane Society has a 'Companion Animal' Program... where we have volunteers take dogs/cats/even rabbits sometimes... to visit the elderly & other places as well (not exactly sure where).. the dogs are temperment tested with our Behaviour Specialist to be sure they are safe/tolerant etc.. So maybe you could see if they have a similar program at your Humane Society
Sorry if this isn't what you meant by 'service dog'...

No, by service dog I mean a dog that will come with me to therapy sessions for myself, to the doctor, on the bus, shopping, etc to keep me from having panic attacks and pull me out of dissociative spells. I need a dog that can come with me all over the place like a guide dog, or a seizure dog.

Well I've never heard of that... I could have used a service dog when I was at my worst... especially the bus & store situations... Good Luck Kate... I hope you can get your dog certified...
