Chew Block for Degus?

I was just wondering what kind of chew block people use for degus. My guys don't like the one they have, and they usually bury it under their bedding. Should I be concerned that they don't use it? They have two large branches in the cage that they chew on. Is that enough to properly wear their teeth down?

Is the chew block you are talking about a pumice stone, Nikki?

I have no idea.....there was a bunch of them in the small animal section of the pet store so I just bought one, but there wasn't a sign saying what they were. They drag it around the cage a lot, but don't chew on it. They just chew on the branches and the wooden part of the cage.

Rincewind is an unknown quantity at this point
We've tried our boys on pumice stones, mineral stones, salt licks... all sorts of good things. They didn't use any of them. In fact, they started peeing on them

For some reason they really like a plain old rock from the garden... go figure.

You shouldn't be to concerned with them not chewing it. As long as they are chewing lots on other things they should be fine

Right now I can hear them chewing on the cage frame. The frame is pretty thick so I'm not worried about them chewing through for a while. When they've gotten half way through at any point we're planning on replacing it. But that probably won't be for quite a few months.

My guys also seem to have peed on the block we got them. Silly degus! They also like to bury it and then dig it up and move it somewhere else.
