Recommended Cat Food

It looks like we may be getting a young cat, so I would like to know which cat foods (dry and wet) you guys would recommend. I would like something that has the ideal amounts of protein and fat and something that has no corn or other fillers.

How exciting!! There are a lot of good foods without corn or by-products. My favorites are Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold (the cats' favorite), Go! Natural, Wysong (wet..I think some of their dry food has corn). Just make sure to read the labels carefully. Our cats are on an all wet diet because of their previous urinary crystals. It is more expensive but there are a lot of people (and vets) who do not support dry diets because of the health problems that can be associated.

Thanks Candice. We picked up some dry and wet Wellness kitten food today. I'm not sure whether that would be my top pick or not, but it does seem to be more readily available, as it is at both the natural health pet food store and the big national pet store.

Our cats LOVE the Wellness wet food. I have fed the Supermix5 before and they enjoyed that too...but it defintely wasn't a favorite.

What would you recommend for treats? I picked up a bag of Nutrience Supreme Snacks today, as they were the best looking treats at the big national pet store, but I am guessing that there are lots of other options at the natural health pet store.

That's exciting news Danielle! The brands recommended by Candice are all really good quality food. I like Wellness! Both my dogs & cats are on it now.

Our cats don't get real kitty treats. I often pick up (or by) samples of other high quality cat foods. A few pieces of a different food is novel enough for them to get really excited! Plus, they are healthier and I can give them quite a few.

I love the Chicken Soup for the kitten/cat lover's soul foods.
I use Pounce tartar control treats. But BB very rarely gets any type of treats.
