Anyone use an all wet food diet?

Max and Syd are both on an all wet food diet now thanks to previous urinary problems. It is working well and Syd has finally accepted the fact that wet food is all she's getting...no more crunchies! I am having a bit of a problem though...

I know that wet food is not supposed to stay out for long periods of time. We went away to the lake last week and I had my dad taking care of the cats. He would stop by once a day a feed them. I asked him to give them each a can and a half. The only problem is, they won't eat all of it right away. They were leaving some in the bowl until the next morning even so he fed them one can a day while we were gone.

When we are away at the wedding, we will have a pet sitter. But the pet sitter will only stop in once a day as well. So how do I get them to eat all of their food and not have it sit out?

I wonder if you could put an ice pack under the dish, somehow... and then the sitter could rotate the icepack the next day. It wouldn't keep totally cold the whole day of course but would be better than nothing.

Wink

I have been breeding cats for 17 years (mentioning that to impress you ;-D)
Do not worry about the once a day diet for grown cats. but they should put down less food so that the cats do not eat spoiled food. They will eat more the next time round so they can increase the portion slowly every day untill some remain over, then do not increase. Over all, they will loose a little weight, but if they get food poisoning they will loose more than weight.
