I've been hearing lots of croaking around my apt complex lately. I also heard it when we went wine tasting. I'm assuming that there are frogs out there, but its weird because we don't have any ponds or anything. Could they just be living in the bushes? Also, I didn't know that frogs croak in the fall. It seems like it would be more of a spring thing. Mike thinks I'm crazy. For some reason he hasn't heard all the croaking.
I haven't seen a frog/toad in a couple years now. I used to have to watch the road in the evenings so as not to ride over them, now, they're no where......
Use of fertilizers and wide-spread pesticide spraying are both obliterating amphibian populations around the world. Especially around populated areas.
Here in TX I usually hear green tree frogs, leopard frogs, cricket frogs, and bull frogs well into December. The tree frog species generally don't need a permanent water source nearby, except when they're breeding in the spring. They'll be just as happy to live in the branches/bark of a tree, or under some moist mulch on the ground.
Psst, you aren't crazy! It's me, I snuck to California and have been trying to call for you, but I have laringitis and I sound like a frog! Only kidding!
I wish there were frogs around here. There are marshy areas, but no frogs.
