Black Bear Hamsters

I saw some black bear hamsters at the pet store a few weeks ago, and they were soooo cute. I was wondering if anyone has ever or knows someone who has ever had them as pets. What are they like?

I think black bears are syrians with a certain type of colouring? I know one species is solitary and the other likes company, not sure which is which tho. I hope the hamster lovers can help you out!

Syrains are the solitary hamsters but Dwarves are said to live in pairs but also have been known to fight at times.

From what I remember black bears are just syrains with special colorings, id like to have one as they are so so cute

Black bears, teddy bears, golden hamsters, etc are all syrian hamsters. Treat them all the same. They need to live on their own. Various species of dwarf hamster can be kept in pairs or colonies.

black bear hammies are awesome though! As kate said, they need to live alone, but the one I had was really sociable with humans and was a delight to watch in his cage.
