What are your reservations about getting them neutered??
YES, it is VERY necessary.. it doesn't matter where you live. You indicated on your intro thread that you live in Ontario (so do I).. I find it hard to believe that nobody in your area neuters their pets..
Unless your dog is a purebred and in a registered breeding program or a Show dog, it would be irresponsible to NOT get it done.
I work in an animal shelter and see first hand the effects of over population of pets. I have seen dogs with testicular cancer and it's disgusting and SO unneccessary..
As you can probably tell.. this is one of my 'pet peeves'!
I really hope you see the light..

Have you ever been to a First Nations reserve? We have nothing for peoples health let alone animal care. I have seen the problems that occur and although people said that my dogs are "just dogs" and dont need care I disagree with them.

Nobody in my area really cares about their pets, except maybe me and a few other people. I wish there was a place in my town but theres nothing here so I will be taking my dogs out to Thunder Bay.

If you had read my post, you would have saw where I said that I wanted to do whats best for my dogs, I'm sad to say that noone is really educated in how to properly take care of animals which is part of the reason that I came to this forum for advice and help.

Thank you for your information, I have made an appointment and flight plans to take my dogs out in two weeks.

While it may be true the people where you live aren't educated you obviously have a good grasp of how to use the internet. Any search about neutering would give you a wealth of information from vets about how much better it is to neuter or spay your pet as well as tons of arguments from people who think its better to "not tamper with nature". A quick call to whatever vet is closest would also get you this information. Most vets talk to you about when your animal should be "fixed" at their first puppy checkup if it hasn't already been done. I'm glad you're willing to take your dog's health into consideration.

Not getting it done can lead to cancers, behavior problems and other issues. Its normally done when the dog is still a puppy, although it can be done at any time. In the southern US they actually do something called pediatric neutering which is done as young as 6 weeks. My youngest was neutered at 9 weeks. Unfortunately it doesn't deter him from trying to mate with inanimate objects.

Thanks puppylove,
I am happy to say that my dogs are now neautered. Some of the people here thought I was nuts to make an appointment for a dog and "waste money" (their words not mine) on a plane ticket out to the city. My dogs are now healthy and happy, I also took my cats with me and they were given the clean bill of health

My doggie is fixed all and good, he came that way when we adopted him from the pound. It also ended up helping him be a better pup, while he is still a hyper dog he is more mellow than others I have seen. And where I live there are many strays that run loose its so sad. On average my local place does over 500+ adoptions each month.

My pup is not, but I plan on it. We are getting a girl (show) dog this winter and I don't want her having pups by my yorkies. He is no where near show quaility. Being that he is 10lbs last time I weighed him.
