Dog Emergency

I'm at a friend's house and his chouwa(sp) may have engested a but of Spray Fray which is a plastic glue for clothing. The active ingredients are Methenol, Ethenol and Keytones. We called the vet and posion control. The vet said to look for stange behaviour and induence vomitting with proexyde(sp). We don't have any and we're worried. Is there anything else we can do for vomitting or is there anything else we should do to make sure he is well?

Call the vet again and tell him/her that you don't have any peroxide and ask what else you can do.

Please, CALL THE VET. Be sure to tell him/her about the nose.

I just found this:
http://dogs.about.com/cs/disableddog...mit_induce.htm

I also found this:

Quote:
You can induce vomiting by giving 1/2 teaspoonful (small dog) to 2 teaspoonfuls (adult large dog) of ipecac syrup, or get him to a vet right away. It is possible to induce vomiting by pouring lots of very salty water down a dog's throat, but attempts are usually unsuccessful and merely waste time. Do not try to induce vomiting if petroleum distillates, caustics, or acids have been ingested, if a pet is having seizures, and/or is not fully conscious.

Inducing Vomiting
If you need to induce vomiting, first make sure that it's appropriate to do so. Don't induce vomiting:
  • more than two hours after ingesting problematic substance
  • when the substance is an acid, alkali, solvent, or petroleum product, as it will do as much damage on the way up as it did the way down
  • when dog is comatose or very depressed
To induce vomiting:

  • 1 teaspoon hydrogen peroxide per 30lbs body weight; give once, repeat after ten minutes; don't administer more than three times; some dogs will drool and look miserable before vomiting
  • 1 teaspoon syrup of Ipecac per 10lbs body weight; works quickly
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon salt placed far back on the tongue or dissolved in 1 oz water; do not repeat dosage; dry mustard powder (same instructions) may be substituted

If you haven't induced vomitting by now, I wouldn't try it. Call the vet back and ask what else can be done other than observation.

He seemed fine when I left. He wasn't acting oddly and was picking on the lab. We think he is fine and that he never managed to get any glue out. My friends who own him are going to watch for any bathroom problems just incase though because if he did get any it'll probably come out in the end now.
