Update Re: My fishies

My betta is slowly but surely getting better: his tail is no longer red and it is already growing back in some places (you can see in the pictures that there are no ragged, shredded bits). He is also eagerly eating his pellets and showing off whenever he can:

Here he is asserting his masculinity to a marble:

Here's a closer look at his tail:

The sunburst platys in my 5 gallon tank also seem to be doing very well: they swim around and chase each other all day and they eat and poop like there's no tomorrow. They are really quite delightful fish:

The tank water also looks a lot clearer (I did do a partial water change yesterday), so it may be done or close to done cycling (I'll have to test the water to know for sure).

Danielle, your Betta boy looks better. It takes time for their fins to heal. Congrats on your Sunburst fishies. Very pretty and colourful. I agree, the water looks a lot clearer.

Thanks guys! I am quite happy about it all.

I am also glad that I am not the only one that thinks that the water is looking much clearer - I guess that the filter media and gravel from an established tank really helped.

It definitely looks clearer! I thought of you today when Pistachio (rattie) was on the sofa next to my fish tank. Vegas (betta) saw him and started flaring at him. It was so funny. I got a pic of it but I took it with my cell phone.
