Sad Not looking good for the tetras... :(

Ok, well I went to Petsmart. The lady said the tank I had was too small and I needed a heater, etc. So I bought a 5 gallon tank and more plants (they were out of heaters). I came home and put the tank together using some of their old water and everything. Well, I put them in and they are not looking good. Lots of upside down swimming and some are at the bottom upside down. Totally sucks. I feel horrible. I thought I'd be helping them. I just don't know what to do. I think it was just too much stress for them.

That sucks. Tetras are pretty sensitive to water conditions...temp, ph, things like that. The first tank you had them in was new and wasn't cycled, right? They are sensitive to stuff like that and its better to add them to an established tank with the right water conditions. I hope they make it.

The first tank was new, but they were doing just fine. I think it was the 2nd move that killed them.

I lost all of them and I feel horrible and stupid.

I'm sorry you lost them. They are really delicate fish, and I haven't had much luck with them either.

I'm sorry for your loss. Don't beat yourself up about it - fish can be really difficult to keep.

Jane, don't feel horrible or stupid. If it makes you feel any better, Dave purchased Cardinal Tetras last year and they appeared to be very healthy. Well, one by one they died and when Dave went back to the pet shop where he purchased them, the owner said he ended up losing all of his too because the entire group of them were sick. They are very sensitive fish. I don't believe you did anything wrong.

We tried tetras as well and lost all of them. They were pretty delicate.
