My discus are looking frightful. They are losing their slime coat. What a bad sight. I am sure they are having a reaction to either the water change I had done or the introduction of three new plants(water the plants were in). At first I thought they had the dreaded discus disease but now they seem to be doing some what better. I used a med called Furan-II which I usually carry just in case of times like this. Having discus for 16 years tends to make you medication savy. I'll keep you guys posted.
I saved one out of three fish. I was suprised that the wild discus(Heckels) did not make it. Most of the time the wild discus pull through and its the "man made" type that die first. I've decided not to buy any more discus.
In order to try and save them I had to use antibotics. You can't use carbon at the same time. I'm not a big fan of carbon. I only use it to remove meds from the water. I see people at the fish shop buying it. In my opion if you stay on top of regular water changes you don't need carbon. Carbon can actually harm baby discus. Carbon also leaches back toxins if you don't change it.
