My Bala Sharks

Just thought I would share some pictures of my fish. I now have 6 fish tanks and yes I went overboard, LOL. My favourites are my bala sharks. I have 5 of them. When I feed them they make this huge clicking noise. It is so funny. It sounds like the tank is cracking. They are very curious little things, inpecting the tank every which way. I've always read on how skittish they are but mine are quite the opposite, they are not shy or skittish at all.

As you can see in the pictures I got rid of the yougly ceramic/strawberry pot. They fish love them and makes them feel more secure and I think evey fish needs a pot so I didn't want to take it away from them. So I found some really nice decorations and in the bala tank you will see how much better it looks. The hiding spots in there are huge and roomy, my African Clawed frogs love it. Sometimes all I see it there cute little heads poking threw. It's funny!

They 'can' get to 12" to 14". But the average most common is about 8". It takes about 2 years to reach full size. And about 1 year to reach 7". They are said to grow fast but to me that isn't fast, LOL. Oscars and Red Devils/Midas's grow 1" per month and that's fast to me. My Oscar got to 7"-8" in only 6 months. Balas do need a really large tank because they are schooling fish. They will be more shy and skittish if kept alone and will not portray there natural behavior.
I really love my balas. They are my favorite fish. Always on the go swimming here and there, very active happy fish.
