ick in my tank

Hi everyone,

I guess I should have known better than not to quarantine a fish before I put it into a tank. I should heed my own advice. First rule of fish keeping quarantine, quarantine , and quarantine.....so much for that. So, I looked into my fish medication box just to find out that I purchased Quick Cure about 5 years ago. Needless to say, i had to go out to Big Al's and purchase some Quick Cure ASAP. So, I went to the medication section and looked at meds....and who pops by but my aquarium society buddy. She works at Big Al's and is the manager of the front section....so I sorta said my fishs have yeast infections....lol....and I am looking for Mono Quick Cure....well she just about hit the floor laughing...Ok, so I am the Queen of Discus and I should never get ick....forgot to say I am also Queen of meds for discus . I kinda blended in the backround for a sec. I did bring a ram into a tank that I bought from them a couple of day ago so i suppect that the ram brought in the ick. My friend chuckled and said we should give a free bottle of ick meds to all who buy rams....she told me that they are Asian blue rams and that they are genitically weak. I love rams but i have learned my lesson and I was a bit embarrased to buy ick meds....i knew people would have a good laugh and they did.

P.S Quick Cure is toxic and can cause cancer!!!!

Ravnos is an unknown quantity at this point
I made a similar mistake recently, and bought a tang "off the truck" so it was extra cheap. I should have known better... but anyway, I used Herbal Ich Attack, it worked very well, didn't affect my corals, anenomes or other invertebrates. Sure beats putting formaldehyde into my saltwater tank, or anything with copper in it, that would decimate the inverts, like many of the recommended medications.

Hi Ravnos,

I would like to know the company that makes the Herbal Ich Attack. I'm in Canada and we can't always get American products for fish or pets here. I really hate using such toxic products on my fish but the fish store had no other herbal options. We have Melafix and Pimafix but I doubt that they take care of ick. Thank you very much for input.

Hi Ravons,

I did a search on the net and found that Kordon makes that product. I am wondering if I can get the product in Canada.
