got discus to spawn by cleaning the tank

Hi everyone,

Well Mollymitten inspired me to go and clean out my 55 gal tank. I thought it will not take that long...just rearrange some plants and plant my 3 melon swords...but no I had to trim some dead leaves and so on....I did a big water change and put on my magmum filter to clean some of the floating debris. Today, I put on the lights and found one of my discus fanning the large piece of drift wood. Yup, I found a small clutch of eggs. I'm pretty sure the male did not do his job and the ph was near 7 so the eggs will probably not make it. Just goes to show you what a water change will do in some cases....actually its an old discus trick to get them to spawn . I don't breed discus any more but it was nice to see that they still can breed.

P. S its all Mollymittens fault..

Ok, I must be crazy ...I took out the spawn(attached to the large piece of wood) and put it in a smaller aquarium with both parents. The spawn looks like it might hatch...i'll know by tomorrow if we have any fry developing...I better cross my fins..lol

P.S. Liz everyone blames me in my family

GreekAnimal is an unknown quantity at this point
I had three Discuss and they died on me. They are very difficult to keep. They need crystal clean water, good high ph, warm water and live in a stress free environment.
