Fish Tank Ideas?

I know that several members have well-established tanks and I am looking for decorating ideas. A member on another site used PVC tubing and then glued on aquarium gravel to keep it from floating and also make it look nice. Has anyone heard of this or tried it? I love my fish but I will not be spending $50+ on a decorative ornament, even if it is nice. I cannot believe how expensive they are!! My tank is large so it would require several pieces for it to look neat. Right now we just have plants, some large rocks, and a piece of fake driftwood. What is in your tank? And, do you have any ideas for decorations?

Brandy is on a distinguished road
in our 77 gallon tank, we have sand, plants, a large cave, a piece of small driftwood, and a coconut shell

in the 66 gallon, we have very large pieces of driftwood, a live plant, and crushed rock,,also some large pieces or rock

I dont really have any suggestions, but Craig and I like the natural look, no color, like red, blue, or any of those cheesy ornaments, like the one that says no fishing or anything like that, i find it makes look like a little kids fish tank

Candice, we found our large pieces of drift wood in the woods, we soaked them in the tub for 2 weeks and scrubbed them,,,,,,,,,,they dont sink yet but we put large rocks on them to anchor them and you would never know the difference....

Candice, fish tank ornaments are incredibly expensive, makes me wonder why they jack the price up for stuff that you could make yourself

You could try clay flower pots, look for deadwood in the forest like Brandy suggested (just clean it throughly), maybe Home Depot or other stores like that might have pieces of slate or other rock that you could use to make a cave system by gluing them together. PVC tubing also sounds like a great decoration idea.

Just make sure you use aquarium-safe glue and materials

We have two simulated coral caves, multitude of plants, and a clam with an air wand in it.

You are so right about the price of decorations for the tank. They really do rob people blind. We bought a gorgeous piece of driftwood for the aquarium but the darn thing is too big. I think driftwood adds a nice touch to the aquarium.
