Goats?

Does anyone have a goat? When I was a kid I had a miniature goat named Petunia. She was the best thing ever

I had some goats growing up on the farm. I loved them. I totally want a pet goat. But I don't think it would be happy on my patio.

Agreed... it's unfortunate, but there are just some pets that don't do too well in the city. I can't wait to have a big yard and wide-open-spaces someday

Chickens? Sorry, but eww. In Tennessee, you could smell the chicken coops from the road. It was gross... Even up north in Michigan, where my Grandma's friends has chickens, she keeps everything really clean but it still smells.

Sorry, I'm not a fan of chickens.

omg citychick You just reminded me of a totally horrible experience I had with chicken poop.

Back in the late 80s/early 90s I would make a trip to ol' Max Yazgars farm in August for the Woodstock reunions. Sadly Max didn't own the land anymore and the new owners were not loving the fact that for a week out of every August hippies of various ages were camping out on their land. I think it was in 1992 that they decided to just put HUGE piles of chicken crap everywhere. God the smell was probably the worst thing I've smelled ever, even to this day.

That was the year we all went to a local grocery store's parking lot (they also had lots of land) and I think they charged everyone six bucks to put up their tent.

When the owners of Yazgar's farm saw that they could charge people to come on their land they lightened up. 1994 was the last year I went, that was the 25th anniversary and there was another big huge event going on in Saugerties. The original land was the place to be though, lots of the old timers showed up, Arlo Guthrie, Melanie, Sha Na Na and even a surprise appearance by Soul Asylum.

So, yeah: 1) chicken poop is awful and; 2) I'm old.

=P
