Calling all Budgie Experts!!!! Few Questions

Hello all. I have a question and I pretty sure I have the answer but I would like some more opinions. Now I am not looking to breed but I am trying to determine the sex of my budgie Snowflake so I can call it a he or she!!! The problem is it is an albino budgie now it as a slight coloration of a purply blue on the cere. I was told any bluish color would indicate a male. What do you guys think?

Okay next question what do you guys use for food seeds or pellets. I would like pros and cons of both. The cons I have heard is they are prepared were as seed are natural and they would find seed in the wild not pellets. Also I have tried to give the birds treats such as lettuce (romaine) and eggs and carrots but they don't seem to want any of it. I saw a tip from a bird breeder not to give treats bigger than a birds eye, which makes sense but they still don't seem interested is it a time thing, in time will they eat it??

Next I am currently taking care of my mothers budgie, her house is not the warmest of places and she was worried about the bird getting sick. Well her budgie and my budgie are related they are out of the same clutch. Her is a male for sure bright blue cere!! If mine is a male would it be okay to let them have play time together. I have them in seperate cage but am currently attempting to hand tame moms bird. It is showing a real interest in wanting to come out and when I open the door it comes to the door. I am making progress with it, but it really acts like it wants to play with Snowflake. They talk back and forth all the time!! It is cute.

Well I guess that is all for now. Thanks a bunch guys I really appreciate having some place to go with all my silly question

Shannon

I would think that your budgie is a male by your description...
I have lovebirds and when I adopted them they had been eating seeds for the 1st 6 yrs of their life... I was told to switch them slowly over to pellets as they are healthier for them.. and birds that eat seeds usually pick out the sunflower seeds and throw the rest all over the place. I have to agree b/c I don't go through as much food as I used to since I switched to pellets... I know that budgie seed has NO sunflower seeds in it but I think its the same for them.

It's not a silly question Shannon!

Unfortunately, I know zero about birds but I know there are more bird people on this forum and Sue is one of them
