| any other bird owners? Here's a pic of my lovebirds...Keiko (yellow) and Kiwi (green). They are approximately 10 years old. I adopted them from the Humane Society when they were 6 yrs. Their previous owner passed away and the family brought them to us. They are not bonded with me at all. They just want food from me! (I'm being used)
They are attack-birds and every foster kitten I've brought home (about 100) have got bitten by them (they only do it once, mind you). My own animals know better than to get too close!
I LOVE THEM ANYWAY!!!

| It's actually the green one (Kiwi) that does the biting. I believe she is the female and she's just protecting her MAN! From what I've read, she shows all the signs of being the female...and they are usually the more dominant of the two. I don't blame her for biting the kitties though, I would too if they were climbing on top of my cage!!

| I don't even hear them anymore...but apparently they are kind of loud...when my friend comes over (their cage is in the livingroom), she always says "Is it time to put them to bed yet?" Meaning, put the cover on the cage. I always tell her if she doesn't like it, GO HOME! It's their home not hers.
Another friend of mine adopted a lovebird that came in to the shelter as a single. "Paulie" is much quieter and bonded to her in no time. I think when Kiwi & Keiko go to Birdie Heaven, I will get a single bird, maybe a cockatiel. Mine have never laid eggs. I'm not sure what the breeding age of lovebirds is..maybe they did when they were younger (& with the previous owner). They do make nests. I have shredded paper on the bottom of the cage and they go down there @ night, under the paper until morning.

| Love birds are so sweet. My brother has one named Gismo. He thinks he is a person not a bird. He even takes a shower with my bro...lol. At dinner time Gismo sits at the table and snitches food off my bro's plate. His ultimate fav, food is pasta!
Here is a painting I did of Gis and his imaginary pal....lol |
