I want a horse!

Jess' pictures are killing me!! I want a horse so bad but I first have to figure out when/if I will have time to ride. I am a very amateur rider but I'm currently working on my riding skills on a big warmblood. His name is Cognac and he's a Selle Francais.

According to my new course schedule (as of last night!! ), I should be done my coursework in July. This will leave me 3 months of downtime before I start the modules. If I can stick to my schedule, I should have downtime between the modules too. So, I think that if there is anytime to buy a horse, it would be this spring.

I'm sure that I could use advice from any (and all) horse owners on the forum. Right now, I'm still in the consideration phase...

OOOOH How exciting I hope you can get a horse sometime! You live in a great province and area for one.

I have a good horse forum I use even though it is a english horse forum. You can also see how a horse in your life would be suitable by leasing a horse as your own and see how that goes too before looking into buying one. I think its awesome! I should have come the extra hour and some to Calgary last week to meet you! BAD BAD BAD JESS.

Let me know if you ever come down through Hope, B.C.
If you want to talk horsie stuff on MSN too feel free to let me know

Good luck Candice, I hope you get a horse someday. I had to sell my horses when I left Ontario, I really miss having a horse though

Getting a horse would be wonderful! I agree with Jess though - through experience, I would lease a horse for a few months to see if it's really what you want or have time for. I leased and my deal with the owner was that I paid half the board and half the farrier bills. As she lived in Toronto, that meant I had use of him 5 days a week! I also have to (obviously) care properly for his tack, and I was allowed to use him in shows. I had a really good deal. If you decide to lease, check around, because every lease agreement is different.

I have access to several horses right now that aren't being used otherwise. I am planning on informally "leasing" Cognac to get him back into shape and see how I manage. I have close friends who allow me to use their horses anytime.

Jess, I am very interested in english riding. I've only ever ridden western but I much prefer the look of english riding.

Oopsie the english forum, while most all of england uses english style as a way of riding, I meant its a forum that is dominated through people in England and much of europe with a few North Americans and otherwise, LOL My bad.
I can PM you it or if you ever want to talk horsie give me a holler on MSN
